I am very excited to have my own show at Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek, WI
Since I arrived in Door County in 2016, it’s going to be like none other you have seen of me performing. DCA is a seated concert venue. My band The Troublemakers are a fantastic group of all-star musicians who love and live the blues. Special guests, stories from my 40 year career. and just a lot of Troublemaking fun. The Troublemakers:
Tony Menzer (bass, Sturgeon Bay) has been on the music scene for over 55 years. Unemployable in the real world, he turned to a life of music and art. He has been fortunate enough to spend time on
stage with the likes of Clyde Stubblefield, W.C. Clark, Victor de Lorenzo, Bill Lordan, Hubert Sumlin, and Jackson Browne. He organized Wisconsin's first and longest running blues fest in
Wausau, as well as a blues booking agency that booked some of America’s top performers. A participant in Steel Bridge Songfest the last 14 years, Tony appears on numerous CDs and now runs
the Sturgeon Bay Music Exchange.
Jamey Clark (drums, Sturgeon Bay) has managed to find trouble with the likes of pat mAcdonald, Eric McFadden, Jane Wiedlin (the Go Go’s), Clyde Stubblefield, W.C. Clark, Chris Aaron, Rev.
Rob Atwood, and Dirty Deuce, before finding himself amidst these fine troublemakers.
Jim Ohlschmidt (guitar, Sheyboygan) is a performer of both city and country blues. One of Jim’s specialties is the music of Mississippi John Hurt, the subject of a new instructional DVD Jim
recorded this year for Stefan Grossman’s Guitar Workshop label. The main focus of Jim’s music since relocating to Sheboygan has been exploring the correlation between the blues and bratwurst.
Larry Byrne (keyboard, Two Rivers) returned to Wisconsin after living in Chicago and New Orleans.He has performed with many fine artists, including legendary blues guitarist Luther Allison (Motown
Records), Dr. Bop and The Headliners, and Bryan Lee.
Pauli Ryan (percussion, Madison) has caused trouble on all sides of the Pacific and Atlantic for nearly 40 years. Pauli’s work as a percussionist has ranged from funk with his band Phat Phunktion, Americana with The Josh Harty Band, and multiple tours with singer/songwriter Chris Aaron. Pauli is also a seasoned studio percussionist, having recording sessions for Garbage, U2, L7, House of Pain, EMF, Son Volt, and The Jayhawks, and more.
Special Guests:
Hans Christian (cello, Sturgeon Bay) has worked as a performer, mix engineer, and producer for over 30 years. He now works out of his Sturgeon Bay recording studio, STUDIO 330. Cathy Grier recorded two CDs live at Studio 330: “Studio 330 Vol. 1” (2017) and “Studio 330 Vol. 2” (2019).
Johnny O (harmonica, Sturgeon Bay) is a transplant to Door County from Downers Grove, IL. One of the original Troublemakers, he is featured in Cathy Grier’s music video “Mind To Ramble.” Johnny has performed throughout Door County with many of the peninsula’s celebrated musicians.
Julia McConahay (violin, Madison) has been playing violin professionally for the past 20 years in a variety of settings, including stage productions, bands, recording sessions, and solo features. More recent collaborations include creating music for Madison Circus Space performers, Underground Aerial, and Li Chiao-Ping Dance.
Bryan Koenig (harmonica, Eau Claire) is the little brother of The Groove King and Madison Slim, who both showed him a lot about the blues. A Blue Loon recording artist, Bryan’s CDs have enjoyed international success.
Dr. John Salerno (saxophone/flute, Green Bay) teaches saxophone, and jazz courses at University of Wisconsin Green Bay. He is a published composer and arranger with several arrangements published at the UNC Jazz Press. He has performed with such notables as Ann Murray, Frankie Valli, Marie Osmond, the Spinners, and the Jackson 5.
