what MEDIA is saying about cathygrier

"Asking Grier to narrow down a list of influences is like asking her to pick a favorite child. Hailing from a pop-rock age, her inspirations are anything from David Bowie to Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell to Richie Havens. Her warm-textured, Bonnie Raitt-flavored voice and slide/harmonica/cigar box guitar chops prove that blues is in her DNA." American Blues Scene

"Grier's voice is earnest and richly leathered, ominous on the dark “Get Me Away” and earthy with the slide guitar on the rural “Cathy’s Bike Song”. She serves up a blue plate special." Jazz Weekly

"I'm All Burn is an effective introduction to what Grier and the Troublemakers can do as they tunefully travel through multiple musical styles and moods. Grier’s vocals signify her sincerity as the lyrics reveal her inspirations and songwriting abilities. The horn section pumps up the overall rhythm, too." Heavy Journalists

Grier has released a sprawling sixteen-song blues album that ranges from  “Cathy’s Bike Song” to “Ode To Billy Joe”, all deep and dirty blues that you will put on repeat."  Indie Pulse Music

"(On her Christmas song 'You're Not Here Blues'), Blues guitarist-vocalist Cathy) Grier has a gutsy, deep voice that drops deep emotion on you...while the message is powerful, she doesn't beat you over the head with it, just states her case and moves on. It's so good I would be lying if I said I didn't get misty eyed." Professor Johnny P's Juke Joint
