Memphis Bound

Here's to Good Trouble in Memphis May 6-9th

International Blues Challenge time slots TBD

The Blues Foundation likes to keep things suspenseful, so we won't know what club on Beale Street, or at what time we will be playing until the day the Challenge begins May 6th. We will have guaranteed performances on Friday and Saturday night. We find out Saturday night if we advance to the semi-finals. Also on Saturday, we will be performing in the Women In Blues Showcase (see the poster above) from 12:20pm-12:30pm. With so many performing, each act only gets 10 minutes to show what makes us unique. I assure you, we got this!

ROAD TO MEMPHIS

Our Road To Memphis is 2 weeks away. It is such an honor to represent Wisconsin in the 2022 International Blues Challenge (IBC).

We're Back On the Road To Memphis May 6-9

The Blues Foundation has thankfully rescheduled the International Blues Challenge in Memphis for May 6-9th. And we couldn't be happier. Entering the Memphis Challenge is a huge honor. With our performances, networking and meeting industry people, we hope to gain more career traction.
The pandemic still needs to slow down though, and we are mindful that all could change again.

Cathy Grier + The Troublemakers will be representing Wisconsin and the Paramount Music Association

Five nights in Memphis during warmer weather is a huge plus, but the trip still comes with quite a big expense. We hope you would consider supporting us. We would also love you to witness firsthand the Good Troublemaking in Memphis, not to mention you'll be able to experience 200 bands from around the world arriving to compete in the Challenge throughout Beale Street.

My plan now before heading to Memphis, is to go offline for the month of February to write, and prepare. I will continue to work towards a new recording in '22, and with health and safety concerns of the utmost importance, look towards returning to performances as appropriate.

We're on the Road To Memphis, and happy for your continued support.

And if you are part of the wonderful group of supporters who already gave to help fund our trip, huge thanks!

We look forward to seeing you in the future,

Thank you for staying with us along the way,
Cathy

International Blues Challenge POSTPONED What's next?

The Blues Foundation made the difficult but wise decision to postpone the IBC in Memphis until a later date (tbd) Of course we are disappointed, but happy to be safe. With this added financial uncertainty, we appreciate your continued support. We had hoped with entering the Memphis Challenge that through performances, networking and meeting industry people, would help take us to the next level. Without that, we are in a holding pattern until the pandemic slows down. Not everything is postponed though. With your continued support, we can write, and work towards a new recording, create videos and plan live stream performances- Now that's making lemonade from lemons. In a sense we are still on the Road To Memphis.

Thank you for your continued support of any amount

And if you are part of the wonderful group of supporters who already gave to help fund our trip, rest assured we will put those funds to good use going forward, meaning you're still our VIP peeps!

We're heading to Memphis January 2022

Excerpt:

Taking a 6-piece band to the International Blues Challenge comes with a hefty price, but we are making smart decisions to limit our expense level. Our budget includes renting a van and driving ourselves, sharing hotel rooms and with basic food/travel expenses it will still cost us close to $8000 for the week. Good news is that we are already halfway there, thanks to support from many of our fans, family and friends.

I realized the best route to convey this was the most literal device—fire. I don't sing 'I'm all burnt,' I sing 'I'm all burn.' I'm just fired up." - Cathy Grier

Don’t mistake “I’m All Burn” for a grammatical typo. The new video from and title track to Cathy Grier‘s new album is a not-so-subtle metaphor for her critical take on the way women are treated not only in the blues world (and the music industry as a whole) but in western society in general. “I’m fired up,” she comments.
