All gigs are on hold or cancelled. Stay tuned for updates

Like many full time musicians who count on live performances as a major source of income, COVID-19 has certainly put on the brakes of my career. Good news is that I am healthy. I'm unable to book any future gigs, and my album release is on hold. A life without live performances is something I haven't known since 1978. I am hopeful possibilities will emerge. but for now I have to let reality of our time be my guide.

I have made the sad and difficult decision to cancel all my dates booked at bar/restaurants for this season. I can not safely, and confidently perform while being concerned of how others are or aren't taking seriously COVID. No matter how many precautions are taken, the reality exists that gatherings will likely increase the spread. And that concern is too much for me to consider publicly entertaining in establishments that also serve, even if outside. The risk for me is too great. If you have ever seen me perform, you know that contact with my audience is part of what makes me the performer that I am. I wander with my guitar, and chat on breaks with the audience, I can’t imagine a performance where I can’t engage with the public in this way. My music has always been to bring myself and others joy. This is the kind of entertainer I have been for 43 years, and I can not see how I could adapt under the circumstances.

I apologize to my fans who will come to Door County this summer looking forward to seeing me perform live in person. Regarding stage concerts in outdoor venues that are still on the calendar: Harmony on the Bay concert series at Martin Park July 8th in Sturgeon Bay will now be virtual. Check out the facebook link https://www.facebook.com/The-Harmony-by-the-Bay-Concert-Series-107462864230783 and the city website for more info. As I write, Summerfest has officially cancelled this year's festival. I am scheduled at Thelma Performing Arts Center July 30th and they are proceeding with a reduced capacity in their outdoor venue. They will allow 250 attendees.

Since booking concerts are done way in advance, it is impossible for me to know what the future holds.

My plan is to tend to my garden, to write, and then to consider the new possibilities that will emerge. My album will be released this year one way or another, so stay tuned for that. Indeed for so many reasons 2020 is a year of challenges on so many levels. I trust you will all make it through with grit and by making things better, by making better things.

Be safe, be kind, and lets take this time to reflect and grow, no matter the hardships we face. love, Cathy
