Those who have loved and lost a 4 legged family member know what this song is all about. I wrote this song inspired by my poodle Etta and her sister Liliput, who passed away.

The holidays can be very difficult without a loved one, (pet or human), and I hope somehow sharing will help navigate the sadness.

Lyrics: You're Not Here Blues:

It’s the Holidays and we’ve got so much to be thankful for Taking care of each other When it’s winter outside and the snow is fallin’ Christmas time and my friends are callin’ Everyone’s out for Holiday Cheer, but the Blues keeps me in here

I don’t want to go out into the cold and I don’t want to celebrate So I’ll lay on my couch full of memories and heartache

I got Holiday lights in the window, they're colorful in the air I’ve got a glass of wine, that should be fine, But you’re not here I can’t take this 1st December without you by my side

You can Deck The Halls, sing Fa la la la la on command, And spin a dreidel, in a winter wonderland, Recite the list of every reindeer, But one thing is perfectly clear, Nothing can bring back the one that I miss, nothing to pull me from the abyss, I really miss your kiss, okay truth be told I’m trying to be slick, You never really kissed, you just gave me a lick I got the blues ‘cause you’re not here.

Seems like everyone’s got a story, about losing their 4 legged friends While my attention drifts feels like I’m fallin’ off a cliff, I can’t pretend I don’t want to hide it, or put on a show, I’m feeling the Blues I’ve been down so low, ‘cause you’re not here

Santa Claus might be coming to town, but how can I be happy with you not around I’ll set your picture for all to see, Leave your collar, your tags, your leash by the tree All the while miss you terribly I got the Blues, ‘cause you’re not here
